Cheese popcorn is a treat widely loved by many across America. That is an undisputed fact. But there is a lot more to this popular snack you may not know. Here are 9 fun facts all about cheese popcorn!
  1. In 1989, pre-popped white cheddar popcorn was the fastest-growing segment of the market, up an estimated 30 percent over 1988.

  2. The invention of cheese popcorn can be tracked to the creation of flavored popcorn in Chicago at the end of the 19th century.

  3. The flavors of cheese flavors typically are white cheddar and yellow cheddar, however, one can actually make any type of cheese popcorn...as long as you can make the cheese into powder!

  4. The cheese found on a lot of popcorn is in the form of cheese powder. Cheese powder is dehydrated cheese made by melting fresh, whole cheese and spraying it through a hot dryer. This produces a thick, velvety powder that coats your favorite cheese popcorn!

  5. The first white cheddar cheese popcorn to come to market was Smartfood popcorn in 1985. 

  6. Cheese popcorn is a hugely popular in the United States! In fact, about 49% of popcorn consumers purchase cheese-flavored popcorn
